Stuttgart Airport has been a central mobility location for Baden-Württemberg for over 100 years - with an impact beyond the state's borders. Its history ranges from the first flight operations on the Cannstatter Wasen, to the Böblingen airfield from 1924, to today's international airport on the Fildern. The basic tasks in air traffic have remained the same - what has changed is the infrastructure, technology and passenger processes.
Direct connections within Europe
The airport's route network is geared towards Europe and offers direct connections to numerous major cities and international hubs. STR is centrally located in the Baden-Württemberg conurbation, spread over the districts of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Filderstadt, Ostfildern, Neuhausen and Stuttgart. More than 19 million people live in the catchment area.
