Tasks of the rescue service

Rapid assistance directly on site

The rescue service is one of the most important components of the Stuttgart Airport Fire Department. Where thousands of people are on the move every day, medical emergencies can occur time and again. To ensure that help can be provided quickly in such situations, the rescue service at the airport is comprehensively equipped:

  • Emergency medical assistance and first aid: medical care in emergencies - including preparation for major emergencies such as mass casualty incidents, for example in the event of air accidents
  • First-aid station with 2 treatment rooms: Company first-aid service in accordance with the applicable UVV / GUV guidelines for the initial medical care of patients following accidents or acute illnesses
  • Training rescue station: The rescue station at Stuttgart Airport is officially recognized as a training rescue station.
  • Support for rescue flights and organ transports: Accompanying vital transports, such as organ transfers or special medical flights
  • First aid training: For company employees, employees of external companies and airlines
  • Disinfection measures: Carrying out disinfections on aircraft and within the rescue service and medical station
